A First Look at Multi-Maps

It is often convenient to break a process down into multiple maps for two main reasons:

  1. Screen area is limited: for clarity and simplicity it is better to limit the amount of information on display.
  2. A complete process may span several areas of responsibility.

In the Tutorial for the Mappers, you produced a simple process map and saved it as Initiate recruitment. This only covers the first part of the process: creating the job specification and recruitment brief.

The next stage, advertising and gathering applications for the position, may be the responsibility of another employee. This part of the process, the recruiter’s role, could be described by a second map.

Finally, another employee is responsible for ensuring that the interview process is carried out and an applicant is hired for the position. This part of the process, the interviewer’s role, could be outlined by a third map.

To follow the rest of the tutorial, we suggest you create the second and third maps and save them, as separate files, with the filenames - Create Interview Shortlist and Hold Interviews and select Candidate.
